NEW TELEPORT VIDEO! Merry Xmas! [20th Dec 11] See below for comments (11)
Ok guys, get a comfy chair, get your self a drink of Christmas cheer and maybe even a bowl of pop-corn, invite some friends and family around, sit back, relax and enjoy the final instalment of our Teleport video updates for 2011. This video takes us all the way from Greenland, across Baffin Bay to the Canadian Arctic, into the infamous Northwest Passage, and on to Cambridge Bay, Victoria Island! It includes some epic wildlife footage like a pod of killer whales coming right up to the boat, polar bears, seals, muskox etc, as well as Chris and I finally arriving in Cambridge Bay after successful completion of the first stage of this adventure! I’ve even included a few funny ‘blooper’ reels at the end to keep you all amused too! Seems we were getting a bit mentally exhausted by now!
HOW'S TELEPORT? Yesterday we received an awesome email from one of our friends Colin in Cambridge Bay: He just came back from dog sledding out to Teleport to check on her for us, to see how she's holding up over the winter. He wrote "I think the shutter froze as it was -50 something deg with the wind-chill. I kept it in my inside pocket but it didn't help. Anyways my eyelids kept freezing together too so it could be a combination of both. Will try and get more pics in the New Year when the sun comes back." How's THAT for dedication! Thanks so much mate! Take a look at the photos - looks SO COLD! Its great to see Teleport still standing strong, a few rips in the outer (sacrificial) layer of tarp at the bow but nothing major! Thanks so much Collin! We really appreciate it!
We have finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase a re-furbished engine for Teleport. *groan* So over the next few months we’ll be looking into all the suggestions that people had previously made on one of our blogs about where we can find such a unique little engine. So yeah, just when I thought all the hard work was over, we'll just have to "get the old one out" and then just "pop a new one in". Considering as it needs a crane to lift it, not sure how easy this will be! =)
And I’m finally a cover girl! Well sort of, I’m smaller than a grain of rice on the front cover of this months (January's) edition of Cruising Helmsmen magazine (Australia's #1 sailing magazine!). Chris wrote a 6 page article for them about the trip and the gear that we used, and the article also uses heaps of Chris’s photos! Make sure to get your edition (if you’re an Aussie), if you can’t get a hold of the article and really want to read it, then we'll try and upload a copy online when the mag's gone off the shelves, in Feb! Stay tuned!
Chris and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year! We’ll be spending this Christmas in a holiday beach house near Sydney, were we’ll finally have a bit of down time to catch up with close family and friends and if the sun ever pop’s it head out, maybe even some relaxing on the beach! =)
Thanks again everyone for following along our adventure this year - it really has been amazing to be able to share the experience with you, and keep in touch with you all! =) We can't wait to head back over there in June next year to sail onwards to Alaska and beyond!

Merry Christmas. What type of seal was it? We're looking at our Animal Encyclopaedia and we think it might be a harp seal? Alana & Murray were wondering if you saw Santa anywhere up there? love the Divers (Offensive Comment?)

Hi
I have not heard from you for some time and I thought that it must be about this time that you would be returning to that cold place,
Are you still intending to continue your voyage or have there been a change of plans
Trust that you are both well and hear from you soon
Cheers
