Almost have my Microlight Pilot Licence!  [25th Apr 13]

Flying solo in the Microlight!

After 20hrs of microlight pilot lessons, the other day I got to fly solo for the first time! Very exciting - such an amazing feeling. A whole new world of photo opps is opening up. I have about 3 more hours of lessons left to do before I get my licence - fingers crossed! These flying trikes are awesome - and you can fly them almost anywhere, except for controlled air space! Imagine how amazing it would be to fly around Australia, taking a whole set of great new photos from a unique vantage point...READ MORE >>

Back from Sailing the Northwest Passage!  [7th Dec 11]

Jess sailing Teleport past a beautiful arched iceberg off the west greenland coast, while I take the pic from our blow up dingy

Well THAT WAS EXCITING! Jess and I've just returned home after embarking alone upon our perilous journey to do what some of the greatest explorers of all time and 160 years of navy expeditions could not - sail through the fabled Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic - thanks largely to Global Warming. Enduring ferocious gales, sea sickness, huge seas, unmarked rocks and fending off icebergs aboard our tiny 29 foot wood and fiberglass yacht ‘Teleport’, we spent the last three months sailing up...READ MORE >>

Icebreaker Sock Endorsement Quote  [30th May 10]

Guess what? If you buy a set of awesome Icebreaker socks anytime soon, anywhere in the world, you'll see a quote from me about them on the packaging! "Whether I'm hiking, running or cycling, my Icebreaker socks never ever let me down." Chris Bray - Arctic Explorer, Sailor, Kayaker, Hiker - Australia. Ha ha. Good times. Seriously though, Icebreaker socks are brilliant. Cozy, snug, and best of all - no-smell - they carefully design socks especially for running, hiking etc. They're so sure th...READ MORE >>

Dirty Dog Eyewear sponsors my Yacht Teleport  [17th May 10]

Chris and Jess sporting their fancy new Dirty Dog goggles

To cope with the bright conditions, glare and perpetual 24hr/day sunlight Jess and I'll face during our arctic sailing trips (www.YachtTeleport.com), we need to have fantastic sunnies and snow goggles, and with Dirty Dog as our eyewear sponsor, we'll also be looking stylish! Ever since I first went to the Arctic in 2005, I have relied on Dirty Dog Eyewear - both sunnies and goggles - and have become addicted to them. Not only are our su...READ MORE >>

Interviewed by SkyNews for Jessica Watson - 2 more sleeps!  [13th May 10]

Jesse's yacht Ella's Pink lady. Unknown photographer.

As I'll unfortunately be up in Brisbane running my photography courses this weekend when Jessica Watson makes her historic return to Sydney Harbour, I was thrilled to have SkyNews pre-record an interview with me today, to give me a chance to champion her. I'll post a copy of the video online here when they release it on Saturday. While I'm on the subject, below is a copy of my Jessica Watson news piece / rant that Australian Geographic asked me to write for their website this morning: On Satu...READ MORE >>
